About Urban Lake Photography

Over 20 years photography experience, and a lifetimes experience studying wildlife.

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep Sea, and music in its roar:
I love not Man the less, but Nature more

Lord Byron

Seems odd to start an about me page with someone else’s quote, but it’s always fitted me. I love nature, I have always loved nature since I was a small child. I can’t recall a time when I haven’t owned multiple bird books; or wanted to be outside enjoying the spectacle of the great outdoors.

It was that love of wildlife that started my journey into becoming the photographer in front of you now. I often had a desire to capture the scenes before me, and after failing to capture them well with pencil, pen, or paints, I turned to photography, in the form of ‘digiscoping’ that was well over 20 years ago now, and I’ve never looked back.

Why Urban Lake Photography?

For many years I have written an outdoors & wildlife blog. It started out as a blog about a small, urban lake, in Milton Keynes, but soon expanded to be much more - You can read it from the link in the menu - The locations changed but the blog lived on.

It was there that my wildlife photography was first beginning to be noticed, and so when I eventually did start to sell images, the name had to include that link, and so Urban Lake Photography was born.

FAQ:

Why do your galleries have a different URL?

Honest answer is it means I can more easily manage them all.

I use a company called Pixiest. They allow me (and many other photographers) the opportunity to host multiple galleries and have direct sales (through Loxley Colour) to people wanting to buy my work.

I can even set up private galleries for events/private shoots etc.

So do you do private events?

I don't currently shoot private events, but if you would like me to come shoot your sporting event, or something then please get in touch you might be able to convince me.

Do you do weddings?

Nope, sorry. They are not something I am interested in.

What about portraits?

Not currently, although that may change one day.
